Update 31/07/2020 – 4:00pm

Following the recent Government announcements that face masks are mandatory in public spaces in Victoria, we wanted to let you know that our centre will be following these new rules as of Monday 3rd August.

From Monday you will see our team at reception and around the centre wearing face masks.

We also ask any visitor who is not swimming or exercising to please wear a mask whilst in the centre, unless you fall into the State exceptions (listed below).

When exercising we ask that you please carry a face mask on you at all times - where practical, in the pool, we understand this cannot happen.

Please note: A face covering needs to cover both your nose and mouth. It could be a face mask or shield.

Even with a mask, please keep 1.5 metres distance between you and others.

We are working through any further implications and will update you if anything changes. Keep up to date with us on Facebook and check your emails regularly for any updates from the team.

Who needs to wear a mask?

  • All our staff who are not teaching or instructing
  • All members/visitors over the age of 12 years, unless you have a medical condition or are exercising

When exercising, please carry a mask with you at all times, where practical.

Who doesn't need to wear a mask?

A face covering is not required in some circumstances including:

  • Infants and children under the age of 12 years.
  • Persons whose professions require clear enunciation or visibility of their mouth. This includes teaching or live broadcasting - this applies to our fitness instructors.
  • When the individual is doing any exercise or physical activity where they are out of breath or puffing; examples include jogging or running but not walking. You must carry a face covering on you and wear it when you finish exercising.
  • A person who is affected by a relevant medical condition – including problems with their breathing, a serious condition of the face, a disability or a mental health condition.
  • Persons who are deaf or hard of hearing, where the ability to see the mouth is essential for communication.
  • Persons for whom wearing a face covering would create a risk to that person’s health and safety related to their work, as determined through OH&S guidelines.
  • Professional sportspeople when training or competing.
  • When directed to remove the face covering to ascertain identity.
  • The person is travelling in a vehicle by themselves or with other members of their household.
  • When consuming food, drink or medication.
  • When undergoing dental treatment or other medical care to the extent that the procedure requires that no face covering may be worn.
  • During emergencies.

What does this mean for you?

Gym and Group Fitness Use

You must wear a mask on arrival and departure of the gym and our classes.

You can remove your mask when you workout, please make sure you have it on you or nearby.

You may notice fitness instructors not wearing masks in the centre, this will only be when they are teaching a class, personal trainers will be required to wear a mask.

Swimming Lessons

Children under the age of 12 years are not required to wear a mask, we do ask that parents and guardians wear a mask at all times when in Centre.

If you are a parent in the water with your infant, you will not be required to wear a mask, but please maintain social distancing and have your mask ready to be worn once you are out of the water.

At this stage we are waiting on advice to confirm if our swim teachers are required to wear a mask during lesson, please follow us on Facebook to keep up to date.

Using the Pool

You must wear a mask on arrival and departure of the pool area.

You can remove your mask when you are swimming or using the pool, keeping it with your belonging while you are in the water.

Once you have dried off we ask that you please wear your mask to leave the centre or use the change rooms.

Update - 19/03/2020 11:00am

As the COVID-19 situation evolves at a rapid rate, we continue to closely monitor the situation. This morning Prime Minister Scott Morrison addressed Australia with updated Coronavirus (COVID-19) measures, to further protect Australians. These measures came into effect at 5pm (AEST) today.

The key measure which relates to health, fitness and leisure facilities includes:

‘Settings like gyms, indoor fitness centres and swimming pools are not required to close at this time providing they meet these requirements for social distancing and hand hygiene. Such venues should take actions to ensure regular high standards of environmental cleaning take place.’

In line with this measure, the following measures must be practiced by all who visit our Centre, including our staff:

  • Maintain a distance of 1.5 metres between patrons
  • Keep up high hygiene practices, including using hand hygiene products and suitable waste receptacles need to be available, with frequent cleaning and waste disposal.

The full media statement made by the Prime Minister of Australia may be viewed here.

It’s important to remember that maintaining our physical and mental health is extremely important on an ongoing basis.

Additionally, we’d like to remind you that the highest levels of cleanliness and hygiene are being maintained within our facilities. This includes:

  • Updated signage: we’ve updated in-centre signage to include the latest information and hygiene practices as advised by the Australian Government
  • Additional cleaning of the facility throughout the day; including frequent sanitisation of equipment, surfaces, bathrooms and other areas.
  • Additional sanitisers and antibacterial products for your use
  • Daily staff meetings, ensuring everyone is up to date with the latest information

Thank you for your support and we will continue to keep you updated with any changes and developments as they occur.
